Zoning For Entertainment Businesses in Pattaya.
Is anyone else confused? In the period of two short weeks, two versions of an Entertainment Zoning scheme have been unveiled for Pattaya. The first scheme was directed to removing entertainment businesses from view on main streets. Mostly this was to occur in the already established entertainment areas from South Pattaya to North Pattaya.
It is not surprising that when such large business and real estate financial interests were threatened by the new zoning scheme that pressure was applied to City Hall and a second scheme was unveiled just one week later. The new scheme does not define where entertainment business can not be, as in the first scheme, but outlined where entertainment business may open or continue to operate. Predictably the new entertainment zoning mostly runs between Beach Road and Second Road from South Pattaya Road to North Pattaya Road. The question on every body’s mind however is what about all the currently illegal outdoor entertainment venues in the neighborhoods around Pattaya? Will there be enforcement or will the status quo prevail?
Well for me I just want to know if they will get rid of those tin and wood out-door Karaoke Bars on Third road that unfortunately have mushroomed behind my home. With seeming impunity they disturb the peace till daybreak and beyond with an awful sound similar to a cat being strangled. We will just have to wait and see.
