Wonderful French Bakery

What a discovery? He is wonderful. I am so happy and excited. I am bursting with joy. Yes, yes, yes……..What is it that would make me crawl on my hands and knees over broken glass the entire length of 2nd Road from the Dusit Hotel to 358/4 Patumnak Road (opposite the O.D. Hotel) in South Pattaya, just to smell the aroma of the bread coming out of the bakery. It’s the fresh bread and pastries in the authentic French bakery called “DELICES DE FRANCE” Oh, YES, YES, and YES.
Ha ha ha. I found it and it’s all mine. Well, you can buy some too. But, I think I can eat the entire bakery. It is so good. I am afraid that if we tell everybody then Georges, The Master French baker, won’t be able to bake enough. He already has super–markets and grocery stores and other bakeries buying his breads, pastries and those fabulously delicious croissants. He has been it business for 13 years. I don’t think I’ll give this story to the editor of this paper. He will publish it for sure. I don’t know how Georges does it. Let me try to explain. Georges is a “Master French Baker“. Do you know what that means? It means you spend two years as a baker’s helper before they trust you to bake anything on your own. He did not even seriously start baking until after two years of washing pots and pans and being a general helper to another “Master Baker“. Then, he spent four more years going to baker’s school and learning all the secrets of baking perfect breads, pastry, cakes, deserts, pies, sweets and cookies. These are now available for our pleasure at his bakery.
Now, let me tell you about cookies. I am a cookie monster. I devour cookies. I am a cookie connoisseur. I’ve eat cookies everyday. Remember that a cookie a day keeps the doctor away. Cookies are good. But, great cookies have to be lightly crunchy on the outside and almost cake like on the inside. The bottom of the cookie is never burnt. It is baked to perfection. The cookie dough is healthy and not just a mouthful of dry flour. Perfection is what Georges bakes at “Delices De France”. Now, I told you but let’s keep this a secret between you and me. OK? Or else, Georges will sell everything before I can get there.
Besides, perfect cookies, Georges bakes a variety of French bread and pastries. It is so good. The aroma of fresh baked French bread coming out of the kitchen will make you ravenously insane to buy his bread.
When I was a child, I stole money from my parents, now and then, to buy chocolate candy bars. Then, we moved from the states to a small town in France. We lived across the street from a French bakery and every morning the smell of fresh baked bread would come into my house and I would become a little crazy with desire to have my own loaf of bread. I became a thief at 7 years old. I am so ashamed. I stole coins from my mother that she kept in a drawer. Then, I would sneak across the street to buy a small loaf of bread for my very own. Then, I would walk to the park and would leisurely eat the bread all day until it was gone. I am so sorry that I stole the coin but I loved my bread. When we moved back to the states, I thought I was going to die.
Now, I have found the master again. Ha ha ha. That same craving for the special kind of French bread is alive in me again. At least, this time I don’t have to steal coins to buy my own loaf of French bread. Ha ha ha.
Try this. Someday, when you want a light meal, fine the “Delices De France” bakery/café and buy a sandwich or two. Buy two, because I know from experience you will want another sandwich to take home after you eat your first sandwich. Don’t buy 20 sandwiches because you can always come back for fresh made sandwiches. Try the coffee. It’s special too. It is “Bon Café”.
For desert, after your sandwich, try a slice or two of pie. I can’t resist the pies and pastries. Forgive me, I ate two because there were so many pies and pastries and they all looked so delicious. The pies called to me and I couldn’t help myself. I promise not to eat two slices of pie for desert the next time…..Well, at least, I’ll think about it. Ha ha ha. Whom am I kidding? I have no will power when it comes to Georges French Bakery. Next time, I am going to try “Meringue” with “Boncafe” or maybe “Sable Chocolate”. Don’t forget to buy bread and a bag of cookies to take home or to work to share with your friends and family and don’t eat it all on the way home or to work either. Try to make it last until tomorrow. Thank goodness, Georges likes to bake. He opens at 6am and doesn’t close until 8pm.
BON APPETIT…..But don’t buy everything in the French bakery. Save some for me. Thank you.
Remember. “DELICES DE FRANCE” is opposite OD Hotel on second road. 358/4 Patumnak Rd. 038 251 404 and see the ad in this paper in the French section.
