Progress in Pattaya

Well progress is progressing as they say. Pattaya has grown and this growth has required the many public infrastructure projects that seem to appear every day somewhere in Pattaya. It reminds me of New York City in the 70's. The local electric company Con Ed was making vast improvements and the construction never seemed to end. Their motto was Dig We Must. Pretty much sums ups Pattaya's situation these days, Dig We Must.
Well the good news is that one such massive public project is almost finished . The new road they have been putting in Soi Wat Boon, Jomtien is open from Jomtien Beach Road to Sukhumvit Road. Travel with ease right to Jomtien's favorite spot for a refreshing libation, Blind Beggar.
As you no doubt guessed they are partying over at the Blind Beggar, which is located on Soi Wat Boon Road. now that the new cement road, which runs right by their door step, is OPEN! The many loyal souls that braved the route during the construction are jumping for joy. It is so much easier to get there now that the new road is open. All are welcome to roll right off that beautiful band of cement roadway into the Blind Beggar parking lot.
“The Blind Beggar.” is one of the best places to visit for a lot of reasons. The local expatriates especially like the location on Soi Wat Boon, just a little ways off of Jomtien Beach Road. “The Blind Beggar” is the large tangerine building on the left side of the road. It has rooms for rent and the best bar that anybody could ever want. It is a well run establishment. It is quiet and discrete.
I love the bar. The walls are covered with a million photographs. It is a great sports bar. They show all the sporting events on several TVs and there are two huge rooms in the bar, so there is lots of room for me and my friends. It is so much fun to be in the bar when the crowd is yelling and cheering and everyone is getting so excited over the games on TV. The sound is almost better than being at the sports event in person. I love the thrill of victory and the agony of defeat.
The food is also great. They have great selections and the portions are generous too. Now, here’s my tip to you. On Sundays they have a free buffet from 12 noon until it’s gone. You buy the drinks and the food is free. This is not your hotel type food. This is home-made. It is so good. The cooks take pride in their cooking. This buffet has been happening for years and its reputation is well know, so there is usually a large crowd on Sundays.
“The Blind Beggar” has easy parking and when I go there the ladies meet me at the door and help me find a seat and offer to bring me a cold beer. There is nothing like a cold beer on a hot day after you have taken a ride on the newest cement road in Pattaya. Here is a toast to progress in Pattaya!
