Press Release and Programme follow. Pictures available. Thanks Al McManus 07 067 8572 JOMTIEN GOLF GROUP The Jomtien Golf Group is a non profit-making group dedicated to enjoying social golf and raising money for charity. JGG play EVERY THURSDAY, meeting at Moonshine Place (Soi 4, J.B.Road) at 8.00 am. We put on buffets, BBQs and Happy Hours for all players and keep Sign-Up Sheets, Golf Program & Results at the leading Jomtien restaurants & bars. JGG provide an all-inclusive day’s golf – incl. meals, transport, green & caddy fees, golf carts, scoring & results and prizes. ALL WELCOME. NO HANDICAPS or DISCOUNT CARDS are required and everyone has a good chance of getting into the prizes. We believe in good value for money. JGG use handicap-on-the-day systems such as Callaway and Double Perrier - for Stroke, Stableford, Bogey & team competitions. Breaking-down results into one or two flights on the day, we also have unisex long drive and near pin awards, plus the occasional Lucky Draw. The full day costs between Baht 1,200-1,800 depending on which course is played and sponsorship. Our next group date is 16 October, 2003. Please contact us by return e-mail if you wish to sign up. Course will be Eastern Star. SKY JUICE & OTHER BREWS FAIL TO DETER JGG Four birthday-sodden groups braved Phoenix’s new sheriffs and heavy overnight rain in the inaugural Jomtien Golf Group party held on Tuesday 16 September. Scoring was atrocious, but all enjoyed a heavy consumption of sun and ale. Twin brothers Scott and Sean McKienan proved to be the largest consumers of the latter, with Sean taking the Second Last award by a single stroke from his brother. They also proved that the new course marshals will turn a blind eye to abysmal golf on the production of a green can or two. Nobody is sure of the final scores, but trophies were apparently awarded to : Overall Winner Lyn Simmons, Runner-Up Ned Hughes, Brad Shen (3rd), Ron Gale (Best Gross & Long Drive), Yeow Gale (First Lady), Joe Wright (Near Pin) and Dave Woodbury (Lucky Draw). All players enjoyed a sumptous Breakfast and Barbeque Prize-Giving Supper at Moonshine Place and the JGG Charity Fund is now off and running. The next golf party is at Pattaya Country Club, meeting at Moonshine Place (Soi 4, Jomtien Beach) at 8.00 am Tuesday 23 September. Golf cart rental will be included in the package, since we received endless complaints from the lovely Phoenix caddies about having to carry all the beer and ice. Further information may be obtained from : Moonshine Place - Soi 4, just behind 7-11, Jomtien Beach Road.
